A few years ago I owned a local plumbing company. One day an older gentleman called me (retired and no pension) he had no hot water and no money for a new heater. I repaired his heater for the cost of a service call with NO warranty, he was elated and told everyone he knew. I was the only company that would FIX a heater instead of replace them.I put that in my ads and had more work than I could do without hiring help. Now everyone puts it in their ads,of course they don't
really repair but get the jobs because of the ads.

Hi Tore, got your comment in my email as I was subscribed to it and thought to send out a reply straight away.
See the major thing which Sean has highlighted here is the power of a community now its not just about going for a Cofee or going on a long journey on bikes, you have an accounting firm that means clients are looking for the right kind of work that's it.
Going that extra mile here means to be more than an accounting firm for example offer rewards to people who come back to you and give them a platform to share there thoughts on your service say something like an online forum and nurture this with your prompt response on any particular message that is being talked about and this community would get bigger steadily.
And you might hear people saying this " hey you know there is an accounting firm with which we can connect informally on an online forum" and more such responses.
Believe me you can generate even better thoughts on this just start thinking for a while about your clients as in what makes them more happy.

This is just a small thought from my end though the best person to advice on this would be Sean.

I think this is great info and a very good point. I am however a bit stumped as how to do this for our business. Can this be done for any business?

I am probably being narrowminded and not seeing the possibility here, but as for our own accounting business... where the clients just wants the work to be done correctly and on time, how do we go the extra mile and make them into fans?

Thanks for sharing some fantastic thoughts Sean, I wonder why the comment section is still empty.
I think there are a few brands who know the power of community and customer evangelism and the rest just try to chatter about this, As in the latter's strategy churning good revenue is just dependent on the number of products sold and they think the best way to do that is splash some advertising dollars.
But there are brands which know that the reason of their being in the business is the benefits which they offer, so they keep on innovating to enhance the customer happiness level.
