Leffe Brune is a Belgian beer. It's dark. And it was originally created by Trappist monks, no less.

Hi Sean. I re-read this article today while scooting through your latest blog posts and Zingers... And once again, I smiled in understanding everything you said.

"Hard work didn’t scare me. But I wanted to work fewer hours if possible. And I wanted lots of time to just sit and do nothing but read, or drink a Leffe Brune."

Like you, I love my coffee, and even though I have no idea what a 'Leffe Brune' is, I know what you're saying. I'm not in business to make millions - I just want to have quality, relaxed time with my kids and take a day, a week off if and when I WANT to.

The 'secrets' to quality life are never found in hyped-up promises of 'get-rich-quick' scams (I mean schemes, of course)...

I saw your domain name, and I guess you're in the surfboard business. I have nothing against surfboards, per se, but a lot of the get-rich um, gurus, show these items: surfboards, fast cars, etc. These are just devices that the get-rich folks know push triggers.

And so I have to identify the triggers, so that the audience knows what to look for.

In fact, I may even do a comic strip called, "I'm going to be a guru" :)

Very interesting and insightful commentary. Most of these get rich schemes have about the same odds as winning the lottery, and yes, people do. I guess that's why so many people fall into the trap.

I'm curious, for obvious reasons, as to why the surfboard references?

Hi Sean,
This one's similar to one of your previous articles but it speaks of a cardinal rule which most people miss and hence fret over things. Thanks for the reminder or else I would've been one of those squeaking and sulking!

Hi Sean. All I can say is (2 things really)...

Thank goodness I'm a skeptic and don't believe all that 'get rich quick' garbage - but, like many, I've found myself compelled to 'read more' occasionally when something caught my eye - if only to give me something to laugh at...

Secondly, but most importantly, what a great article. You've elloquently and unashamedly demonstrated that any one of us can be suckered into offers of the non-existent 'short cut'.

sometimes it is great to think that in everything and everything is as lesson waiting to teach you... and that all people are BUDDHAS' waiting to enlighten you - my guru always tells me to approach people like these and it makes a world of difference. suddenly you start seeing things that makes you deeply happy and lasting happy..

Sean,

This is scary. I just said the same thing (minus the $10k poorer) in an email yesterday.

THANK GOODNESS you said it out loud.

Sending everyone I know to read it now.

Regards,

Kelly

P.S. I love my MBP, too. Macs are addictive little buggers!
