Thanks for this post. Just want to add an insight. The best advice I ever heard about Time Management is to think of it instead as Event Management. We can't control time, but we can control what we do in that time.

You just tackle social media when you're bored. It is a social thing isn't it? You don't meet your friends for coffee every fifteen minutes. Social media gets my attention when I've had enough of work for the day. The better you get at your work, the less you get distracted by social media. The more crappy you are at your work, the more time you spend at social media. Unless social media is your work ;)

Yes, I hate those forums. Which is why we take extra care to throw those folks out of 5000bc. An unwritten motto of a forum should be: Be kind, be helpful or begone. Well, that's our written motto at 5000bc ;)

Thanks Sean - I comment A LOT on blogs but have been hesitant for the forums as I did not want to have some kind of faux paux that would make thousands of crazed readers and writers want to tar and feather me!!! Okay maybe a little dramatic but I know that etiquette can really mess you up...:)

Tara :)

The email signature should be a mix of invitation and curiosity. Kinda of like when you're out on a date. So it reveals stuff, but not too much. e.g. Is Headline Writing A Big Struggle? Have a look at http://www.psychotactics.com/psychoheadlines.pdf and get rid of the struggle.

Of course. And on the forums at http://www.5000bc.com, I have to be very focused. Some days there are well over 100 posts a day, that get posted. As 'head janitor', I have to make sure that I look and answer a good chunk of those 100 posts. Just looking at a hundred posts is interesting enough (in terms of time) let alone answering them. ;)

GREAT Post! I always hear that people don't have time, what I think they don't have is a plan and focus. Do you have a recommendation for what is an appropriate email signature for your forum comments? I want to get people to my site but also don't want to be too spammy!
