The Obvious Advantage of The Four-Wheel Factor

Author: Sean D'Souza

You were told you had to focus. You were told you had to do one thing at a time. You were told wrong. Doing one thing is for unicycle-riders. If you want to move ahead in life, you need to get into a four-wheel drive.

How do you harness the four-wheel factor to your advantage?
Try driving a car with one wheel. Ok, so you've had your fill of ‘wheelies' right? Even one deflated wheel on your car, is enough to slow you down completely, isn't it? Yet most businesses try to run their business with one or two wheels, never realising that momentum is the key factor.

Don't mistake movement for momentum
A unicycle moves for sure. You know that. But heck it doesn't have a tenth of the momentum of a four wheel drive. And a four wheel drive with four wheels, sure packs a lot more momentum, than one with three wheels or two.

So what's this got to do with business?

One heck of a lot. At any given time, at Psychotactics, we're doing three-four things. As if four projects. We're starting up the Learning Rock Series in Auckland; creating an info-products course; speaking at events; publishing the Brain Audit. All at one go.

But shouldn't we be focusing?
We are focused. All of the wheels are different, but headed in the same direction. You thought that to be focused you had to run just one wheel, right? Well, they were wrong. But there's one caveat. One word of warning.

Remember you're driving a car
To drive a car, you need training (as in education). You need to learn with a driver who shows you how to manage the car. You need to drive slowly at first (turning all four wheels slowly). Then you get faster. Better.

Four wheels churning is the key to momentum. So get off your unicycle, will ya?

Personal Experience:
I've seen clients working on just one wheel. And while it does work, it doesn't work as well as four. So I get clients to follow this concept of four wheels running. And it works better than any single wheel could, or will.

Interesting perspective on growing one’s business. Glad you gave the example of Psychotactics working on four major projects at the same time. I was beginning to wonder if I was unfocused, as I always have multiple projects underway. Your explanation that all your projects have you headed in the same direction and working toward your goal makes sense.

Sure. Right now we’re working on a massive $2500 giveaway (that’s giveaway, not “sale”). You’ll see that shortly on Psychotactics and on the blog. And then we’re working on the launch of the Brain Audit Hidden Resources site + the launch of the book in New Zealand (yes, NZ only for now). Then we’re working on three books in the Book Club (Books on topics: Consumption, Membership sites, Presentations). I’m also working on a book project for an iPhone app. And then the Cave Party across the US and Canada (2010)…

You want me to go on? 🙂

Oh sorry, I thought you wanted me to give you current examples. I misread it. But now you know anyway. 🙂
